LITE (LEAD DESIGNER, CO-FOUNDER)
When I traveled to Asia in 2023, I was shocked at the sheer amount of counterfeit luxury products I came across. It was f*cking crazy. They looked identical to the real thing. When I went down the counterfeit rabbit hole, it dawned upon me that blockchain was probably the only way to truly combat it.
Verification of goods on-chain. Transactions that can't be replicated. All pointing to a single domain.
The problem was (and still is) that most people don't like crypto. Some disdain the culture - while others claim it's because it's "bad for the environment". So, I had this crazy idea to dive head-first into the tsunami, and stitch "tap-to-verify" NFC tags on to streetwear garments.
1. Because they looked cool.
2. Because we could use the NFC to reward our customers in real-time.
3. And lastly... Because, in my mind, it was a subtle, interactive way to verify garments without flipping the f*ck out about blockchain (it's not that deep).
I ran the idea by an old colleague of mine. His name is Shaifer. If you want to know the truth; we were both kind of in limbo after a startup we were working for got acquired. At first he was hesitant; and then suddenly, out of nowhere, he was my co-founder. He knew so much more about streetwear than I. We have crazy synergy. I'm still so thankful I met him.
As for the whole "bad for the environment" thing... we solved that by using a chain that requires less energy than a Google search - and it's cheap as hell. It's called Solana. Check it out sometime. Or don't.
To date, we've sold out our first Season, traveled overseas for drops, and have been blessed with multiple, once in a lifetime collaboration opportunities.
All in the span of a year.
All in the blink of an eye.
These days, I mostly only care about making cool clothes. Good design that tells a story. To tell you the truth, I'm not a "crypto bro' or anything like that. I'm just a guy that thinks it has a legitimate purpose, and we're using it to solve a real problem. This isn't some basic b*tch Instagram brand that will disappear in a year or two. Sorry to disappoint.
So then... what is BAD*?
BAD* Environment Club is the internet Supreme before Supreme became Supreme.
BAD* Environment Club is a social experiment, and a test pilot for your inevitable future.
But most importantly: BAD* Environment Club is a cult hiding in plain sight. There's a lot of stuff you still don't know about us. I can't explain it all.
Just be careful if you go down the rabbit hole...
You might just die.
And if you do, I'll see you in the afterlife. - Lite.
